Review: PLAYERS is about a team of skilled and sharp group of people -- Charlie [Abhishek Bachchan], Ronnie [Bobby Deol], Spider [Neil Nitin Mukesh], Riya [Bipasha Basu], Bilal [Sikander Kher] and Sunny [Omi Vaidya] -- who rob the gold bullion from Russia successfully. But one of them double crosses the players and the team sets out, with Naina [Sonam Kapoor] also included in their task now, to retrieve the booty and also settle scores.
Director duo Abbas-Mustan are back with their yet another thriller, and once again they have put their best foot forward in delivering an edge of the seat thriller. Although this time they have tried their hands on an official remake of a super hit Hollywood flick ‘The Italian Job’. Yet there are many changes in the screenplay like the character of Bobby Deol, which never existed in the Hollywood version. The action sequences of the film are shot brilliantly and the cinematographer has done a fine job in capturing the action sequences with ease and also he has captured the beautiful locations across the wirld in many cities like Auckland, Wellington, Paris, Rome to name a few.
Abhishek has acted his role with ease and easily stands out in this multi-starrer and so does Neil Nitin Mukesh. Omi Vaidya’s comic timing was perfect in this thriller. Sonam and Bipasha have done a fine job. And Bobby Deol made his presence felt in a small role. Johny Lever and Vinod Khanna are wasted.
The Music of the film is not so good except for a single average track, ‘Kyun Dooriyaan’.
Overall, Players is a decent watch. The only drawback it has is a slow and a boring first 40 minutes. But once the film catches the pace, it runs non-stop like a bullet train.
